Frequently asked questions
How do I sign in?
Open the App and tap Sign In / Create Account. You can continue with your Google account or with Sign in with Apple. We'll never ask you for a password directly — sign-in is handled securely by Google or Apple.
How do I add a friend?
Go to the Friends tab and tap Add Friend. Enter your friend's username (not their email) and send a request. Once they accept, you'll see each other on the leaderboard and can start challenges.
How do I start a challenge?
Tap the Challenge tab in the center of the bottom bar. You can either:
- Invite a specific friend to a private challenge
- Use matchmaking to find an opponent at your level
How do I delete my account?
Open your Profile → tap Delete Account at the bottom. Confirm in the dialog. This permanently removes your profile, friends, custom words, and pending challenges. Historical games you played against others remain visible to those opponents, but your name appears as "Deleted User".
Account deletion cannot be undone. If you only want to sign out, use the Sign Out button above Delete Account.
How do I manage my subscription?
DeutschTogether subscriptions are managed through your device's store:
- iOS: Open the App Store → tap your profile icon → Subscriptions → DeutschTogether.
- Android: Open the Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → DeutschTogether.
Canceling a subscription stops renewals but lets you keep premium access until the end of the current billing period.
I'm not receiving push notifications
- Check that notifications are enabled for DeutschTogether in your device's Settings → Notifications.
- Make sure you're signed in — notifications only work for authenticated users.
- If you just installed the App, sign out and back in once to refresh the notification token.
I found a bug or have a feature request
Email us at support@deutschtogether.app with:
- Your device and OS version (e.g., iPhone 15, iOS 17.5)
- What you were doing when the bug happened
- What you expected vs. what happened
- A screenshot or screen recording if possible
I forgot which account I signed in with
Sign out and try signing in again with Google, then with Apple. Your progress is tied to the specific account you used originally — signing in with a different provider creates a new empty account.
